Rinjani Trekking Guide and Porters

rinjani campsite

At Adez Adventure, we know that the true heroes of any Mount Rinjani expedition are our incredible local crew. Attempting to climb Indonesia’s second-highest volcano is a massive physical undertaking, and doing it safely and comfortably is only possible because of the dedication of our professional trekking guides and porters.

When you book a Rinjani Trekking Tour with us, you aren’t just getting a map and a tent—you are gaining a supportive team dedicated to making your journey unforgettable.

Your Expert Trekking Guide

Your guide is your group’s leader, navigator, and primary safety officer on the mountain. We carefully select and train our guides to ensure they meet the highest standards of the Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) authority.

  • Multilingual Communication: We bridge the language gap so you can learn about the local culture and environment. Our guides are proficient in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Indonesian. (If you have a specific language request, please let us know when booking!)

  • Safety & First Aid: Our guides are trained in wilderness first aid and know how to recognize the early signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). They dictate the pace of the trek to ensure you acclimatize safely.

  • Local Knowledge: Born and raised in the villages surrounding Rinjani, our guides share fascinating insights into local flora, fauna, and the spiritual significance of the mountain and its crater lake, Segara Anak.

The Incredible Adez Adventure Porters

While your guide leads the way, our porters are the engine that keeps the expedition moving. Without them, climbing Rinjani would be nearly impossible for the average tourist. You only need to carry a small daypack with your water and camera; our porters handle the rest.

What Our Porters Do:

  • The Heavy Lifting: They carry all the heavy equipment, including tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, cooking gear, fresh food, and water. They do this using traditional bamboo poles balanced across their shoulders—an incredible feat of strength and balance.

  • Camp Setup: They hike ahead of the group to secure the best camping spots at the crater rim or the lake. By the time you arrive, your tent will be fully set up and waiting for you.

  • Mountain Chefs: Our porters double as excellent cooks. They prepare three hot, fresh, and nutritious meals a day (plus snacks and warm drinks) to keep your energy levels high throughout the trek.

Our Commitment to Ethical Trekking

We believe that exceptional service starts with how we treat our team. Adez Adventure is deeply committed to sustainable and ethical tourism on Lombok.

  • Strict Weight Limits: We strictly adhere to TNGR regulations. Our porters carry a maximum of 20 to 25 kilograms (44 to 55 lbs) to ensure their long-term physical health and safety.

  • Fair Wages & Gear: We guarantee fair, competitive wages for all our crew members and ensure they have adequate shelter and provisions while on the mountain.

  • Creating Local Jobs: By booking with Adez Adventure, you are directly supporting the families of Senaru and surrounding villages, providing vital income to the local economy.

Tipping Guidelines

Many of our guests ask if they should tip the crew. While tipping is never mandatory, it is highly appreciated and is a wonderful way to say thank you for their immense physical effort. A general guideline is around IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000 per hiker, per day, pooled together and divided among your guide and porter team at the end of the trek.
